Prep before breath test

So if we need to be off of antacids for three weeks before the breath test , what do we take if we experience heartburn? I'm taking 20 mg of omeprazole everyday.

I just saw a dr and he said not to even bother with a breath test. He said to do an endoscopy. He also said that taking PPI before a breath test or endoscopy will not affect the results. He said it might affect the initial test to see if you have h pylori but not a re test for the infection.

of course an endoscopy would be better, if a histology and/or CLOtest and/or culture test is/are included.
as for the breath test, PPI would most likely leads to false negative. However, different PPI have different strength and so, you may control the PPI accordingly before the breath test.
