Finished treatment now worried about resistance

Finished treatment of amox & clarith. I read everywhere there is a high clarith resistance and I'm starting to think my treatment may have been useless. It's because I used azithromycin many times throughout the years for bronchitis last time was in August. Because I used Azithromycin so often can I assume my H Pylori is resistant to clarith? This treatment wasn't pleasant. I don't wanna repeat it if I don't have too. The treatment aggravated my nausea which is my main symptoms of my gastritis 5 fold while taking the meds this was not a joy ride. I live in the U.S. dunno if that matters about the clarith resistance. I read on the pylera website that more than 5 macrolides treatments and H. Pylori is most likely resistant to clarith. :x

If you had previously treated using azithromycin, it is likely that your H. pylori is resistant to clarithromycin. Nevertheless, you should wait for a month, get a breath test result to prove its persistence, and ask your GP or specialist for an alternative treatment.

I meant to say I haven't treated h pylori with azithromycin but I took u know the 5 day course multiple times throughout the years for upper respiratory infections. I really hope I have eradicated it...getting a breath test done will be very hard since I gotta get off PPIs for 2 weeks for my throat this will be bad.

In a way this sounds ridiculous that H Pylori gets resistance super quick. I'm sure plenty of people taken macrolides for various infections and when they got treated for H pylori many cured it with clarithromycin in their drug combo. My mom who's 61 for example used azithromycin many times in her life and she too got treated for H Pylori 3 years ago with the prevpac and cured it. Her eradication was confirmed by a stool test.

Yup, I understood what you said about your used of azithromycin in your previous treatment for other diseases. And like you said, your mum is the lucky few that was cured from H. pylori with single antibiotic. Let's hope you are the same case, or at least you combo with amoxicillin.

So, we shall wait for your breath test result to find out.
:D

She didn't take a single antibiotic she took the whole combo...Amox, Clarith and Lansoprazole just like me except I didn't take the lansoprazole but Rabeprazole Yea I know it's very rare to be cured by just one antibiotic.

I meant to say, your mom's H. pylori could be resistant to clarithromycin and yet the triple therapy cured her.

anyway, keep us update with your follow up breath test. your successful treatment will bring light to all members here.
