recheck test

Hello

I came down with the HP bug in Nov 2013 and it is a nasty beast with lingering symptoms to date. The doctor chose a stool test to determine if the bug was killed which was done 48 days after the triple treatment was complete (waiting results). Why would the doc choose a stool test rather than the breath test if both are available?

I'm not quite sure why your doctor chose the stool test. But it doesn't really matter as they are both accurate tests.

your doctor probably believe that stool test is not affected by PPI or antibiotics that you had been taking. I would recommend another breath test at least 4 weeks later to really confirm the eradication.

Thanks the test was negative. It has been 3 months since the HP infection and I still have nausea and a gnawing pain in the mid belly and was reffered to a GI specialists who scheduled gastroscope and colonoscopy. He thought the symptoms would work out.
