I started not feeling well on Christmas. Two days later I was so sick I went to the er. They did a ct scan of my abdomen, gall bladder ultrasound, a pile of blood work and a urinalysis. I was released with a stomach virus diagnosis. Even though I had no vomiti g, diarreah, or fever. On December 31I called my dr because I was no better. She said typical signs of gastritis, ulcer or both. Started taking zantac. I was so sick last Thursday I called to see if they checked me for h pylori. Never did get a return call so I went to an urgent care facility. They gave me the positive diagnosis. Started amoxicillin, biaxin, and prilosec. I'm just finishing day two tonight. My question is.....how long before this gnawing hunger feeling goes away? I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat. The gnawini hunger pains is horrible. I cry all night long. Can I take bismuth to calm my stomach?
I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I have to take xanax just to get two or three hours of sleep a night
The rest of the night I cry , force myself to eat and pray. Help me please!

Thanks for sharing your story. Yes, you can take pepto bismol (bismuth) together with your treatment. It actually works better and reported with higher success rate of H. pylori eradication.
The "gnawini hunger" pains that you are experiencing depends on your condition. Since CT scan did not see anything serious, I think it's just your stomach complaining of the pathogen. Give it some time to recover. If it's due to the antibiotics, then it'll go away when you finish the treatment course. It's important that you finish the course of antibiotics to avoid antibiotic resistance.
Lastly, please stay positive.

The growling and gnawini has been here since Dec 26th. I have loss of appetioe. I have been sick for Two and a half weeks. Took zantac for 10 days prior to being diagnosed. I just hate forcing myself to eat. Is loss of appetite common? How long til it comes back? Thank you helico_expert.

I don't like milk. I could never drink warm milk. I just forced myself to eat some peaches. I'm becoming more and more depressed each day.

I woke up and cried knowing it's med time and I have to get something on my stomach because the biaxin will make me worse.

What is the dosage amountn for biaxin, amoxicillin, and prilosec. I have been reading online and see there are different amounts. My GI doctor only treats for 10 days. I am getting so bloated from drinking all this water. I feel like I could vomit. Anyway from what I read the amoxicillin is 1 500 mg every 12 hours and the same with the biaxin, and 20 mg prilosec 1 every 12 hours. Thanks.

the dosage looks right. depress is the last thing you want and it's not helpful. can you try distraction method? such as participating in some activity so you wont think of your discomfort?

I'm taking 1000 mg amoxicillin, twice a day and 500 mg of biaxin twice a day for 14 days. I never seen a protocol that called for 2000 mg a day, just 1000 mg.

We had a publication in 2012. We use PPI + Amox + Rifabutin and Ciprofloxacin.
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1 ... 9/suppinfo
That is the rescue therapy we recommended for people who cannot be treated with the standard triple therapy.
The Amox we prescribed there is 3000 mg a day.

I'm up now, it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm nauseated beyond words, bloated, and feel like I could vomit any minute. I never had these symptoms before starting the antibiotics. I don't think I'm going to make 14 days. Today will be the start of my fourth day.
