I was tested positive for H Pylori and have completed the 14 days HP Pac. My GP wants me to get an endoscopy done to check for an ulcer and see if the treatment works. He has said that I can get the endoscopy done as soon as I complete my course (I finished today morning and can get an immediate appt for the procedure. Please advise on the timing. Should I be waiting for a minimum period before the endoscopy or can I get it done immediately?

I think it's better to have endoscopy done at least 2-3 weeks later.

If you have ulcer now, and your H. pylori is gone, 3 weeks later is the best time to see if ulcer healed and if any H. pylori survived.

if you dont have ulcer now, you wont have ulcer 3 weeks later.

because of the PPI you have taken, all the test for H. pylori detection will fail. so you might get a false negative result.

Thank you so much for your response. Can you please also help me with two more questions?
1. I suffer from Anxiety and am starting a homeopathy treatment for it. It is likely going to be Arsenicum album and maybe something else. Will this impact my test results?
2. As I have said, I have completed my HP Pac and did not have terrible side effects during that time. After completion, however, I do not feel like eating. Does this happen, is this common?

I also, off course am currently having some issue with anxiety so I do not know what is setting my lack of appetite off.
Please advise.

I am sorry, I am not familiar with Arsenicum album. So I dont know if it will affect the test result. However, anything that is to do with reducing acid in the stomach, will contribute to false negative in urea breath test.

I am not too sure about your appetite either. The most important thing is to make sure this H. pylori is eradicated completely, then we have one thing less to worry about and can then focus on another problem.

My endoscopy results are back. I have no ulcer or esophagus scarring like we were concerned about *(due to the excessive acidity) but my h pylori culture came back positive! Could you please help me by advising on my best option for the next treatment?

it's good news that you dont have ulcers or scarring. For the treatment, your specialist should have ordered an antibiotic sensitivity test therefore, you'll be given the best antibiotic combination. Otherwise, you can discuss with your doctor about the possibility of having the treatment we gave to our patients.
