I have been diagnosed with H.pylori and am on day 3 of the 7 day antibiotic course. My doctor substituted metronidazole for the amoxicillin due to penicillin sensitivity. I am suffering a reaction (I suspect from the metronidazole, a horrible. medication). My mouth is very sore, my tongue a fiery red colour and very sore and also my lips are a little sore. My throat is also very dry and a little constricted, though nothing serious. Is there anything I can take or do to ease this side effect. I do not want to stop mid course and have to start from scratch later. Also, is it OK to take paracetamol?

I think you are allergic to one of these antibiotics. Have you tried any anti-allergy drug, eg. ZYRTEC or chlorpheniramine?
it's ok to take panadol, but if symptoms get worse, you should stop the treatment and ask for other substitution.
