Hello Everyone,
I was diagnosed with h.pylori on Feb. 25th via blood test. At that time my symptoms were nausea, abdominal burning and pain. I couldn't eat or even drink water. I began the amoxicillin, clarithromycin and omeprazole for 10 days. at the end of the treatment i was feeling much better. I had gained back the weight I had lost while sick. Two days after treatment ended i began to feel sick again but felt this was due to stopping the omeprazole? Three weeks later i had a breath test which was negative. I'm still having symptoms but have heard that it takes a long time to get over the inflammation. Is this true? My doctor also prescribed omeprazole 20mg daily to give my stomach time to recover. Does this sound typical for H.pylori?

Yes, it does take time for your stomach to recover. Depending on how bad the gastritis was, it sometimes takes several month. Keep taking Omeprazole is a good idea.

Hi,
I was diagnosed with H Pylori in December 2012 and after two courses of the triple anti-biotic therapy it was confirmed that the H Pylori had been eradicated in early May 2013, by the stool and breath test. The main symptom that I wanted to get rid of was abdominal pain, but that still remains. My abdominal CT Scan shows that all my internal organs are ok, but the small intestine was described as a "little narrow", possibly as a result of H Pylori and anti-biotics. My doctor prescribed the Proton Pump Inhibitors-Omeprazole and Lanzaprazole, but they didn't work. I am currently taking Domperidone and Amitriptyline, but no improvement in pain relief. My doctor has decided that I have" normal" organs, but they are behaving "abnormally" and is prescribing medecine to only treat my symptoms. Any recommendations to get rid of the pain.
Thanks

have you done an endoscopy or colonoscopy?

I had an endoscopy/gastroscopy in December 2012 and the biopsy confirmed my h pylori. I have had stool and urea breath tests which confirm eradication of h pylori. I had a colonoscopy in April 2013 and was told all clear. The pain continues and moves around my abdomen, lack of appetite, lack of energy, black spots floating before my eyes
This all started one year ago after a severe bout of vomiting. It has been suggested I check my stomach acid level, bit I am also considering a capsule endoscopy to check my entire small intestine. Any suggestions? Thanks

if your breath test is truly negative and endoscopy showed normal (no ulcer), perhaps your problem is not from the stomach. Nevertheless, in your previous endoscopy, you'll have some gastritis. Maybe is worth going back for another endoscopy and see if the gastritis has reduced. if your H. pylori is truly eradicated, your stomach should return to normal.
perhaps do a CLOtest and histology from the stomach biopsy to triple confirm the eradication of H. pylori. You can also check for stomach pH while doing the endoscopy.
