New to this, had reaction to meds

My 14yo daughter was diagnosed recently. She did not really have many symptoms, sometimes stomach pain but not too bad. I really had her tested because so many children adopted from Russia have it and even though she has been here 10 years she still came up positive( in 2 diff tests). Her Dr prescribed Lansoprazole 30 mg 1X a day, Clarithromyc 500 mg 2X a day, and amoxicillin 500 mg 2x a day. After her first dose she had a reaction, her heartbeat went up and fast for about 10 minutes and her feet and hands felt sweaty. We discontinued Meds and went to a peds specialist. He informed us that she does not need to get rid of it if she is not having issues, she will be fine with it. Has anyone heard this? He did say he would do a scope if her stomach kept bothering her. I have other friends whose kids from other countries have this and they have said that it is very resistant and hard to get rid of. Is my daughter fine with this if we do not get it treated or will she have issues later in life?

Allright,
First, I think she might be allergic to penicillin and that would explain the reaction after taking the drug. There is other treatment we can use to get rid of HP where we replace amoxicillin with Bismuth.
Secondly, it is sometimes difficult to get rid of HP but not impossible. The side effects of antibiotics can be pretty bad for some patients which makes it difficult to take the treatment for 1 or 2 weeks.Indeed, some bacteria are resistant but once you have found the right treatment, it will be allright (we use culture here to do sensitivity testing and have a very successful eradication rate) .
Finally, Since your daughter is young and don't have many symptoms I would not hurry to get her treated. Lots of people live with HP all their life without knowing it. However, and this is my personel opinion, once she get older, I would get her treated so she will never have to worry about it and won't give it to her children.

is Helicobacter pylori a good bacteria? it is still heavily debating. well, it is at least "good" in children I suppose. There are studies in US that showed that H. pylori reduce obesity and reduce allergies.

Nevertheless, unless your child is experiencing very bad symptom, I would suggest to leave it until older age when she is ready to withstand the side effects of antibiotics.
