Newbie and starting to get over the scared feelings...

Hi I was dx with Hpylori 4 weeks ago. Prior to this I was having the most horrendous pain of my life (and I have had two babies with no drugs..lol). My GI Dr. thinks it came from a series of cortisone injections, and mesotherapy shots I was getting at the same time, combined with chronic stress (just lost my sister to cancer) and an ulcer. For me the pain was so bad I couldn't eat or drink anything without severe pain, even wearing a bra was painful. By the time I went to the ER I thought it had to be stomach cancer. They gave me a GI cocktail and antibiotic therapy, and I felt soooo much better, days following I was hungry and happy to be on the mend. However 4 days after I was done with treatment the gnawing burning pain came back and again I ended up in the ER. This time the GI cocktail didn't do much and last Friday they did a endoscopy. The results were: no cancer, no ulcer, but did show gastritis and hpylori. They biopsied the hpylori to see if it was active. I am assuming it is because I am still dealing with pain.
Here are my questions:
1. Does anyone else have brain pain? I say this because it is not like a headache..it is so hard to explain. It isn't centrally located and it is intermittent. I am wondering if it could be food related (gluten, leaky gut?)
2. Can healing be achieved by special diet?
3. Is it normal that the first treatment didn't work?
4. Does anyone else have sleeping issues? I can fall asleep but can't seem to stay asleep long and therefor I am up most of the night. THIS only happens on days that I am in the most pain. Is it safe to say that it's diet related?

Thank you all for your help.

ANS: H. pylori doesnt do any damage to your brain. It is very specific to stomach only. Perhaps you should go do a MRI scan.

2. Can healing be achieved by special diet?
ANS: "Special" diet - I assume you meant certain herbs, and the answer is no. Many studies have shown that herbs like chilli, garlic, tea tree oil, honey, etc only work in vitro. Nothing except antibiotics work in vivo in killing H. pylori.

3. Is it normal that the first treatment didn't work?
ANS: In general, depending on country, the success rate in first treatment is about 80%. When first treatment fail, you must use a different drug combination in the 2nd treatment. Read this paper and you'll understand better.

ANS: H. pylori does not affect sleeping issue. at least not directly. in my personal point of view, I think the overall infection can lead to anxiety and anxiety can leads to various problem including sleeping issues.
