Hi, This is adil M/30, i am suffering from hyper acidity since almost 6 yrs. first enoscopy nd biopsy was done in june 2011- positive for infection, urease test- positive.
treated for h pylori- omeperazole+ Clavam 625+ levofolxacin+ one more drug, perhaps metronidazole(not sure) ( Total 4 drug), folllowed by omeperazole for one month.
bcome absolutely ok for next 4 months.
then again symptoms started to come. hyperacidity, burnig sensation, feeling hot inside whole bowel, burping, bloating , sleep disorder, etc.
again visited a gasteroentrologist, asked for urea breath test- Positive(22.4 unit) 8/ 4 / 2012. he advised me to take following medicines:
omeperazole +amoxycillin for 5 days, followed by tinidazole+Omeperazole+ clarithromycin for next 5 day. then 4 weeks omeperazole. completed all medication as per advice. stopped omeperazole one week back.
Now again symptoms are back. just one week after stopping the medicine. this time it is worst. hyper acidity is severe, bloating all time, sleep dis order, sour mouth???????
Kindly tell me wat to do now????
I m suffering more after last treatment. i need urgent advice
i heard about curd can help this cituation but i m allergic to curd/yoghurt. i dont like milk also. Is this the reason of my GI problems??
if i start taking curd/ yoghurt, will this help???
i think two course of HP treatment has killed my normal flora also/ my GI system is totally damaged.
My stool frequency and consistency is still normal, constipation on nd off.
Kindly help.

You need another breath test to see if your HP is eradicated. your treatment was quite strong. However, if your HP is resistant to the given antibiotic (eg. Clarithromycin resistance is very common), then you'll need a different set of antibiotics.

Then again, not all gastric problem is HP related. We hope that it is HP related because it is easy to solve. You are right about antibiotic messing up your normal flora. But if you give enough time, the right normal flora should grow back.

About your hyper acidity, you'll probably need to take long term PPI. what did your endoscopy report say?

Thanx for your quick reply doc. i Under went Endoscopy in june / july 2011. what I remember is that they took biopsy from fundus body and antrum of stomach. there was sign of chronic inflammation Plus proof of active infection. H.pylori Bacteriuem identified with lots of neutrophil present at the site of bacteria. Pathologist said its a sign of active infection. there was submucosal bleeding also, but No mucosal breach. there was no ulcer atlst that time.
Biopsy sample was sent to Microbiology Deppt for urease test which came positive.
just now i visted my GP who suggested to continue rantac 150 twice daily Plus antacid oral suspention. he said we will repeat urea breath test after two weeks of completion of this course.
is he right??
is there ne other source of probiotic as i am allergic to yoghurt and milk.?? wat are the other normal source of yoghurt bacteria?????
I feel heat inside my stomach, y that???
do we have ne vaccine against this infection, and can we take that vaccine after getting the infection???

Kindly reply.
once again thank you very much Doc.

hmm.. it's difficult when patients have to rely on PPI and want to do a breath test. It is recommended that all acid reduction drug should be stopped for at least 2 weeks before breath test.

There is no vaccine against H. pylori at the moment. reason because there are so many people infected with H. pylori without symptoms. Some scientist even believe that it's a good bacteria. Studies have shown that children infected by H. pylori has less chance of developing asthma and obesity.

In regards to probiotics, I am no expert in that. you probably need to ask your chemist for recommendation.
