Greetings,

A patient was initially treated for H. Pylori infection and failed treatment with the following: PPI, clarithromycin, and metronidazole.

Considering that the patient failed this treatment, has a documented pencillin allergy, and a lack of tetracycline due to the drug shortage, what would you suggest as a 2nd line treatment?

Hi,

Rifabutin + bismuth + ciprofloxacin + PPI is what we prescribe here.

you should check if the patient is really allergic to penicillin.
