Diet

What can I eat to help the drug regimen I have been prescribed? I have been given a 14 day regimen of:

Metronidazol 250mg four times a day,

Tetracyclene 500mg four times a day,

Pepto-Bismol Tablets, two, four times a day.

I'm seeing that probiotic yogurt is good for whatever good bacteria the antibiotics are wiping out, but is there anything else I should concentrate on to help this along? I'm usually a pretty healthy eater (no junk foods, very little fried, etc.), but I want to concentrate on giving the regimen every chance to blast away to this H. Pylori problem. I would be grateful to hear from anyone that has any dietary info. Thanks

There is no recommended diet to boost the treatment. However, some antibiotics are sensitive to acid. The PPI is meant to lower the pH so the antibiotics can do the work. Therefore, food that is acidic such as soda drinks, sour yogurt and any sour food may affect the antibiotics. Just my thought. No evidence support.

Hi, sorry if i give you any worry. again, no study has been done on that. but generally, apple should be fine. in most cases, people just have normal diet. I dont think you need to worry too much. perhaps no alcohol.

No worries, I'm being semi-facetious. However it does surprise me that I don't have to make any changes to my diet. What about vitamins, or supplements?

nope. nothing during the treatment period. perhaps some probiotics to recover your guts bacteria. the antibiotics will wipe out almost all your guts bacteria.
