Been doing a lot of internet research, found this site. Can someone let me know if my symptoms are due to this? I'm 56 yr woman, have had since childhood rotten egg smell burps, followed by hours of projectile vomiting and diarrhia (can't spell, you know what I mean), violent vomiting and diarrhea at same time...starts with rotten egg burps, stomache pain, no nausea, vomiting without any warning. I now am experiencing these bouts several times a year. Have gone to ER, diagnosed with 'gastronitis', hospitalized and hydrated. I've been missing work due to this, no one believes that I get 'flu' or food poisoning so often. No other members of my family have this issue, just me. I do have GERD, and have had ulcers in past....Also colon polyps, had a section removed a couple years ago.
How can this keep happening??? What is this???

very interesting. have you discuss with a specialist?

i dont think H. pylori contribute to the rotten egg smell. then again, it's worth while getting a breath test for H. pylori for the constant vomiting.

perhaps, you'll need an endoscopy to if there is any abnormality in your stomach.

you taking special medication at the moment?

I have seen gastroentorologist for colon polyps and surgery, regular internist for vomiting with rotten egg burps. There are a lot of people out there with the same symptoms, one had mentioned this site.

Currently meds for depression, anxiety and ADD, nothing lately other than prevacid for GERD.

There is some kind of connection with rotten egg burps, bloating and projectivle vomiting--re-ocuring episodes 2-5 times per year.

I'll keep looking, thanks for your prompt answer!

I am not familiar with your symptom nor the medications you are taking. Maybe you can list down the medication name, i'll check with a pharmacist to see if there is any site effects.

Nevertheless, i remember someone mentioned about Giardia infection that will give vomit and diarrhea.

Giardia is a parasite from dirty water. It has very very long incubation period, up to a few weeks. So, it is very difficult to think back what you ate long time ago.

perhaps you need to check with your doctor, get a stool sample check.
