I recently heard that Dr. Oz had a segment on h pylori and recommended cranberry juice to stop h pylori because the juice has properties that don't allow the bacteria to attach to the lining of the stomach- has anyone else heard this? Has anyone tried cranberry juice? And then the website "Ehow" had something similar posted about the benefits of cranberry juice blocking h pylori. Does anyone know if there is scientific proof of this? Wouldn't cranberry juice be quite acidic and not good for a bacteria thriving in stomach acid?

H. pylori is very special. i have not read any paper about cranberry juice and bacteria adhesion, but H. pylori do have very strong adhesion capacity to the stomach cells. besides, those H. pylori attaching to the stomach cells will be shielded by a thick layer of mucous that protects them from acid and antibiotics. I doubt cranberry juice will ever reach these H. pylori.

I have tried cranberry juice. The short answer to your question is no, it is not a cure.

However, it can help relieve the acidicity symptoms. I had constant burning pains which were reduced when I drank this.

I also had cystitis which is the main reason I was drinking the cranberry juice before I was diagnosed with H Pylori.

I wonder if there is a connection between cystitis and H pylori as acid levels seem to be a factor in both of these.

One thing I have found that helps. After taking the antibiotics, I felt better when I ate probiotic yogurt. It helps to put back good bacteria that would have been wiped out with the antibiotics.

I also was just diagnosed with cystitis during my h plori treatment! Did yours ever go away? I hoping I won't have to live with this forever
