It will take a long time to progress from gastritis to athrophic gastritis.

You just need to make sure that you are free of H. pylori. A breath/stool test is good enough to find out.

Hi Helico_expert

Just posting an update to this post.

So i had my endoscopy yesterday and the chronic erosive gastritis that was seen in my last endoscopy (September 2018) has healed. There is just some slighty red inflammation in the antrum now which my GI doctor says is a good sign as gastritis is healing

Histology and stool test shows negative for hpylori.

So i am finally Hpylori FREE :D :D :D

My symptoms have nearly disappeared and i feel AWESOME.

So for everyone thats going through this know that this bacteria can be defeated. Dont lose hope.

Thank you Helico_expert for providing me reassurance that gastritis will heal after eradicating hpylori and now i finally believe you as i do feel better. Thank you for this site. You guys Rock

Best Regards
Presh ;)

I have a question as this has caused me so much anxiety!
Had a bout of gastritis in February and tested positive for H.Pylori. Did the triple therapy and then was retested twice in June and July and both Negative. Most of the time I feel fine but every so often I’ll eat something which will make my stomach burn. Does that mean I still have gastritis or does it mean my stomach is sensitive after the infection is taking time to heal?

It is common for the symptoms to persist after HP eradication.
The inflammation can sometimes cause damage that is hard to heal.
Therefore, the earlier you get rid of HP, the higher chance of returning to normal.
As for your symptoms, you can try probiotics or PPI to ease the symptoms.
