Try sleeping to your right. That may fix your reflux symptom.

i think you mean left side?.

I have been doing such sleeping patterns, but most of the time I am sleeping facing up, with head tilt abit upwards to reduce the chances of gastric juice coming up.

Hello, my name is Vladimir(17 years old male from Russian Federation). Have been reading the forum for a while and have finally decided to share my own story and get some advice for my situation.
My medical journey started at the age of 6 when I had my first stomach operation( it was peritonitis, not caused by ruptured appendix yet it was still removed). At the age of 13 I moved to the UK with my family. A year later I was hospitalised with internal bleeding caused by an ulcer( had symptoms for the whole time but was too young to realise that something was wrong- parents didn’t really listen to me as I am a severe hypochondriac). Was successfully treated for h pylori, then for some time it was all good. In 2016 I returned back home and was once again treated for h pylori( had pains, etc). Not sure whether it was successful but stomach symptoms never went away really. In April this year I had an endoscopy which showed the presence of h pylori( urea breath test showed a negative result though). After that I had an eradication therapy once again( everything was done properly from my side), biopsy didn’t show h pylori a month later. Today I still have symptoms and some of them actually worsened: stomach pains are still there( milder but I do get them), bitter taste in my mouth which I didn’t notice before(I think that it started after I stopped taking PPI), occasional reflux which I have had since 2015(my throat looks like a battlefield—always sore, got tonsillitis, etc). My main concern is that I will die in a couple of years if this continues. What can I do in my situation if I have done everything I could from my side(excellent diet, very healthy BMI(a bit low now as I lost 8 kg while taking antibiotics), good physical exercise, sleeping, even lifted my bed for reflux).
Thanks a lot for reading and further replying,

Another thing I wanted to ask whether I could get infected in these situations:
1. Talking face to face with someone carrying h pylori.
2. Breathing in in public toilet after a person had diarrhoea( sounds crazy but it happened).
3. Washing my nose in gym’s public toilet( though I did was my hands).

I am very sorry if I sound mad but that’s what years of pain have done to my mind.

Hi, thanks for sharing your story.

The good news is, you wont catch H. pylori in any of the cases you've mentioned.

H. pylori is spread via very close contact, eg. kissing, sharing food, sharing contaminated toilet, and cleaning vomit. But if the carrier has good oral hygiene, eg. brushing teeth day and night, then kissing and sharing food is also very difficult to spread.

I trust your doctor on knowing how to conduct breath test correctly. So I believe you are free of H. pylori now. Unfortunately, your reflux symptom will have to be controlled via long term PPI.

Hi vladshaf,

Along before H.pylori, I had GERD.
It was at the age of 30+. I was eating irregularly and eating on bad diet. Had sensation like a heart attack and got into emergency room.
After I was hospitalized in 2008 (i believe), it took few years for me to recover.

Basically, I had to replan my diet, which was my main issue.
Medication is there just to control the situation, you might need to do the rest to regain your willingness to change in diet.
Stop drinking carbonated, beer and alcoholic substances or even smoking.

Do a clean up of your diet, eat more fruits and vegetables. Of course you need to differentiate between akaline and acidic food.

Sleep upright on a bed and lie down only after 3-4hours after meals. Have walks around your area evening or after meals sometimes, or whenever you think about your refluxes...thinking something else...and focus on better things in life. ( I still tell myself).

Eat small meals and regularly, and don't overstuff yourself with food.

Hope this gets some significant improvement for you as it did for me. Good health to you.
