What is the percentage/chance that this may come back? Do I or should I continue to get tested for it?

There is a difference between reinfection and treatment failure.

The reinfection rate is very low. The identification of reinfection is not cost effective and so it is not measured anywhere. However, we know it is very low because among those that we had treated and confirmed for HP eradication, we hardly see them coming back to the clinic again. I recall, probably only 1 or 2 cases in 300 patients.

treatment failure is commonly mistaken as reinfection. However, due to the increasing fail rate of triple therapy, more and more people are experiencing occurrence of the symptoms. So, we encourage everyone to do a follow up breath test to confirm the eradication one month after treatment.
