I m not expert about it, but for dual antibiotic and ppi 7 days is lower chance of getting eredicated

There should be one more antibiotic for that therapy lenght

Especially if you werent on strict diet while doing therapy

Hi

Has anyone treated h.pylori with antibiotics alone, without the proton pump inhibitor?? I am worried reducing stomach acid will only end up making gut issues worser. I am holding off on the triple therapy because of this.

Unfortunately without suppressing the acid, the antibiotics dont work very well.

in the early days when Prof Marshall discover H. pylori, they only treat patients with antibiotics. The cure rate was less than 50%.

However, in those days, acid reflux was so common. Almost everyone has some antacid or PPI in the pocket. Then Prof Marshall's colleague noticed that people who are already taking acid suppressant, the cure rate is better. Hence, from then on, all H. pylori treatment must include acid suppressant.

Hi,
I found this thread while looking for some information.
I was given quad therapy and I'm on 9th day. Feeling super sick during last couple of days and thinking to stop it at 10 days. Is it any good to continue all the way but reduce the frequency (ie: twice a day as opposed to four times a day) ?

7 days treatment is the standard
then due to the rise of antibiotic resistance, 14 days was proposed
then due to the side effects, some doctors reduced the treatment to 10 days and showed a slight decrement in cure rate.

Therefore, in order to have the highest cure rate, continue the treatment if you can tolerate the side effect. only a few more days to go. You can try some mint tea or probiotics to reduce the side effect.

if really the side effect is affecting your digestion and overall wellbeing, like vomiting, rashes, and dizziness, then you should stop and discuss with your doctor.
