Hi people,

I just wanted to give hope to those of you that are fighting this horrible bug, first, let me be brief , I got H pylori about 4 years ago, got the intense nausea, stomach pain, intense heartburn, intense acid reflux, all of them... I did go to the doc right away and go tested for the bug via endoscopy, to my surprise it was positive, and also was found with a moderate to severe gastritis... started the treatment 2 weeks after for a total duration of 3 weeks, I remember that during the treatment I felt a little better but not great. after I finished the treatment doc tested me for the bug was negative, I was stoked and happy... but unfortunately it does not end there... the following months the nausea, heartburn and intense reflux continued, I even got depressed... but like the experts say in this board, you have to be very patience, because things improve very gradually with lots of ups and downs, you just have to think positive that things will get better, I personally took PPI for over a year after treatment, and also zantac... my diet was ok, but avoided fried foods or heavy meals at night... but the good news is that after nearly 4 years I feel great!! I don't even take any PPI, just occasionally when I know I'll be eating junk I take a Zantac or when I get home from a party I take a couple of tums and that's eat. the most important thing for me in this process was to understand that the recovery is NOT a straight line, it has ups and downs. you just have to be very patience. Before doing a endoscopy colonoscopy, is 6 weeks enough time to wait after taking any form of antibiotics ?

yup. 6 weeks without antibiotics is good enough for endoscopy or colonoscopy.

Is is useless to do endoscopy colonoscopy if the doctor is not able to do a antibiotic susceptibility test after the H Pylori is detected? How would he know which antibiotics are resistant and which are susceptible if he can't do the susceptibility test? Should I find another doctor who can do the antibiotic susceptibility?

Not many doctors have access to laboratory that can culture H. pylori.

If you have not done endoscopy before, it's still useful to get information about your current stomach condition.

of course it would be the most ideal if you can hit two birds with one stone... get stomach condition and HP antibiotic resistant profile.

After successful triple therapy treatment for h.pylori bacteria, for the first time I am feeling acid reflux after meal and now I am feeling pain in my upper stomach.I was well before the treatment of H.Pylori,but after the treatment, my stomach cannot adjust the present acidic condition which is now causing trouble after meal.
Can I get reinfected with H.Pylori automatically or I have to consume it manually? Where can I get H.Pylori if have to consume it manually? or, is there any other solution? Please suggest me and help me out of this situation.

nobody would want to be reinfected with H. pylori that can increase risk of gastric cancer.

Some people does develop reflux symptom after treatment of H. pylori. It's actually a good sign that your stomach is producing acid. However, you need to take some PPI to reduce the acid. you can go to any pharmacy and ask for some omeprazole or rabeprazole.

I have been taking PPI for the last 8 months. However when I left taking it, acid reflux started and it created an ulcer in the upper stomach. Now I am on PPI again. Is taking PPI for long time could cause any problem (I have been told that taking PPI for long time is harmful to stomach)?Should I have to be taking PPI for lifetime? Or, is there any alternate safe medicine that could be taken without having side-effects?

8 months is not too long. You should keep taking PPI. That would protect you from ulcers and throat.

PPI is pretty safe. lots of people take it for years.
