I did finish the Pylera. The side effects seemed to lessen as time went on, but I was glad it was over.
I did eat yoghurt with AB cultures after finding a study online that indicated it might help. If nothing else, it seemed to make my stomach feel better. Not my favorite stuff, but I am trying to eat some every day or two even now.
I am afraid I might have complicated the chance of getting any speedy testing to see if h.pylori has departed my life: I am on my second course of antibiotics for an annoying UTI I developed about three weeks back, after Pylera. They gave me Bactrim and when it did not resolve, nitrofurointin (Sp?). I have three more days of the Nitro left. There were also more prevacid pills than Pylera to take daily and I have a few more of those to go. So...is taking these other antibiotics going to delay the 9-wk time my gastro doc wants before giving a breath test?
As an aside, I can't believe any bacteria could have gotten through that wall built by Pylera to give me a UTI, but there was no doubt that it did.
I will post when I get the 2nd breath test. I was so thankful to be able to get through Pylera, but not nearly as thankful as I will be with a negative breath test, whenever it comes.
