it's rare for adult to transmit H. pylori. However, it's not impossible. it depends on how hygiene you and your family practice at home. if you keep sharing food, one day you will infect your family members.

been 1 week since end of treatment. still have raw mouth, like as if I drank very hot tea and burned the skin off? not sure what that's about. stomach and esophagus pain is sort of returning, tho not as bad yet. was supposed to continue with ramitidine? ,prescription zantac I think, but don't really want to take any more damn drugs!! I think that when I get the test in 3 weeks I will find the hp is still here. that will mean another round of a different poison? I hope not, but I don't feel very well. yes it sure looks like a wretched summer!! does anyone know the percentage of cure for this , or how many treatments, on average, does one need to go thru? shouldn't my lame-ass "doctor" have tested the biopsies to see not only that I have hp, but which strain so as to use the most effective drug first and not unnecessarily torture me? sorry to be negative, but this is , I think, how it starts to get. one thing leads to another and none of the docs interact so things seem to spiral and the patient suffers needlessly!!!!

Hi, I understand things can be frustrating sometime but some positive thoughts would help. First, you have to know that the symptoms will take some time to disappear, sometimes months as your stomach need to recover from gastritis. The standard treatment has a very good cure rate but it will depends on how often you have been taking antibiotics (for other diseases) in your life. It is normal to not go through endoscopy and biopsy for the first treatments. It will be recommended if the test come back positive in 3 weeks which I hope for you it won't. If it does, there is still plenty of options so don't give up.

update; I have gotten the results awhile back from the stool sample-negative!!! and I do feel much better so......I hope its really gone and not just in remission. I notice you don't list stool sample as a test so I wonder is it that definitive? initially had biopsy from upper gi so for sure had it just not so sure its gone. but no more pain, gerd, and quite regular so all seems well for now. thanks for the support!!

good to hear you are feeling better. Stool test is a good test and it is accurate.
