You got this right:
PBRC consists of Rabeprazole (20 mg, 3 times daily for 10 days), Bismuth subcitrate (BIS) (240 mg, 4 times daily for 10 days), Rifabutin (150 mg, 2 times daily for 10 days) and Ciprofloxacin (500 mg, 2 times daily for 10 days)

This 10 days treatment demonstrated a cure rate of 94.2% in Western Australia so 10 days is sufficient enough.

I just want to add one more review about this 10 days vs 14 days treatment.

i believe the latest review suggest that 10 days is enough for H. pylori eradication. 14 days treatment have shown no significant improvement.

At this point I would like to take the opportunity to Thank everyone once again for contributing their professional advice on how to approach the eradication process the right way. After reading some further reviews I can now say I feel more confident that a 10 day quadruple therapy regime should do the trick and silence this bacterium once and for all !

UPDATE:
Just got retested and came back Negative ! Admittedly I was a little skeptical at first so I decided to get tested a second time in order to rule out the possibility of a false negative and with utter joy the results thankfully came back Negative again ! :) I'm so extremely happy the nightmare is finally over and my life continues in better health and all thanks to you guys who gave me proper advice...So Thanks again for all the kind support !

Quadruple Therapy PBRC - SIDE AFFECTS VERY WORRIED!

Hi, I'm writing from Bunbury Western Australia. I was diagnosed with H. Pylori last year Sept 2012. Treated twice and still not cured. I contacted Dr Barry Marshalls Medical Centre at UWA a couple of months ago. A research expert wrote back and suggested the quadruple therapy. My surgeon in Bunbury wrote me a script for the PBRC quadruple 10 day treatment and the drugs are sitting on the kitchen bench pending. It took awhile to get the some of the drugs. I am abit overwhelmed about taking all these drugs and wanted to know if there are any major side affects. Especially the Bismuth. I have high blood pressure and I take 5mg Ramipril every day to assist with the BP. The pharmacist said i may get nausea but thats all. But when I read about the potassium in the bismuth it worried me. I am very sensitive to medication and I'm very anxious about taking all these meds. I want to start treatment asap but I was wondering if I could get some professional advice regarding the side affects to this treatment especially knowing I take meds for HBP. My stomach is in real pain currently. Just ongoing digestive problems and I really want to be cured. Whatever this bacteria is, it really plays havoc with your body and well being.

The treatment plan I intend on taking is as follows;

Quadruple Therapy - PBRC - For patients allergic to Penicillin (Which I am!)

Rabeprazole (PPI) 1 x 20mg tab, 3 times per day x 10 days
Denol (Bismuth) 2 x 120mg tablets, 4 times daily x 10 days
Ciprofloxacin 1 x 500mg tablets x 2 times daily x 10 days
Rifabutin 1 x 150mg, 2 times daily for 10 days

Your advice would be greatly appreciated. From a worried female in Bunbury. I hope to hear back from you soon. Hopefully before the end of week as I was planning to start taking meds on Wednesday 24th April 2013.

Yours Sincerely
Dublingirl
