if possible, you can do a test to see if you are truly penicillin allergy. The reason is because penicillin is such a good drug against H. pylori. Nevertheless, we have a few treatment plan that is also effective against HP for PEN-allergic patients.

Perhaps you can go back to your GP and discuss with her and see if she is able access any of the treatment plan.

could I just ask, is it ok to have a medication in quadruple therapy, that you have allready taken previously in triple therapy?

that's a good question. I would prefer not to repeat the same drug unless proven that it has not gain resistance. In our laboratory, we perform pre-treatment antibiotic testing and then prescribe only antibiotics that will work.

That seems logical, to find an antibiotic that works! The doctors in england dont seem to be as knowledgeable about h pylori! could I ask, is it common for symptoms to improve after first therapy, even though the medication has not killed the h pylori off completly?

if the H. pylori is not eradicated completely, then there is no chance for the stomach to heal completely. all it needs is a few weeks for the survived H. pylori to dominate your whole stomach once again.
the recovery of your stomach will depend on how much damage has been done. if you go through this forum, some members waited months before they feel better again.
