Still having stomach pains :'(
Okay so on Thursday I had an endoscopy. Results were that I had no ulcers. It is Saturday I finished my h pylori triple therapy medications & my sulcrafate tablets. In the afternoon I had stomach discomfort it wasn't pain like before but it still bothered me enough to not be able to concentrate at the gym. What is going on? Why is nothing helping? The doctors told me they took a tissue sample to see if the infection was still there but still now I am still getting somewhat the pains. What is it that's going on with me? I feel like I'll never be normal. Please if is out there who knows what I'm going through please explain
at this point idk what to do

Re: Still having stomach pains :'(
The "somewhat pain" you are feeling may be due to the biopies taken by your doctor. It is afterall, a small piece of your stomach skin get pinched out. If it is that, it'll be back to normal in a few days time. Otherwise, if H. pylori is proven eradicated, you just need to give time to your stomach to adjust itself. Because you have been infected for so long, your stomach need some time to get use to the new bacteria free condition. Unfortunately, the healing is subjective. Some people feel better almost immediately after treatment, some takes months or years to be better. The bottom line is, if the bacteria is truly gone, you have one worry out of your mind.

Re: Still having stomach pains :'(
Helico expert I see what you mean. But now ever since Saturday I've been having non stop diarrhea like once after every meal and twice in the afternoon. It seems like every time I eat or drink something it's diarrhea. The pain goes away once I go to the bathroom but will come back after a meal or just by drinking any liquid. Is this part of the tissue sample they took out? Or should I be worried and call my gastreologist? I'm still waiting on the results and will probably give them a call tomorrow to see what's up. Thankfully the stomach ache now that I have is only causes by diarrhea and not the horrible pains I was experiencing and couldn't do anything about it except curl in a ball and cry til the pain goes away. Still I would want it all gone but idk what the Doctor will say. I'm 19 I can't believe this is happening to me

Re: Still having stomach pains :'(
The diarrhea is probably due to the antibiotics upset your normal flora in your digestive system. When you take antibiotics, 99% of the microbes in your guts get killed. The 1% survival can sometimes become nasty because there is a sudden increase of nutrient as all the competitors died out. So when these nasty 1% survival grow in mass, they cause Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) like problem. These IBS problem should slowly subside (after you stop taking antibiotics) as the good bacteria start growing back.
If your IBS problem did not go away a few days after stopping antibiotics, you can talk to your doctor about the potential of getting antibiotic associated Clostridium Difficile.

all the best. and remember to do a follow up breath/stool test to confirm the eradication one month later.
Re: Still having stomach pains :'(
i'm having discomfort on my right abdomen n sometimes on the left after the antibiotics that are given to me on 7/5 which I finished it on 14/5.
I was "okay" meaning can somewhat eat things after my antibiotic(range from 16-26/5) till 27/5, I had the discomfort back after I eat. im controlling my diets and there's only once I ate brown rice and a small piece of locker chocolate wafer which is 27/5 -.-
can anyone tell me is it normal to feel this way?
or h pylori has returned?
thanks

Re: Still having stomach pains :'(
the recovery for everyone is different. Give yourself another week and see if it gets better. Then on the 3rd or 4th week after stopping antibiotics and PPI, you can get another breath test to find out if your H. pylori is still around.
