Tests negative, symptomatic 4 months later

Hello,
I had stool and breath test 5 weeks post abx. Both negative. But it has been 4 months and I still have symptoms (burping, bloating, nausea, hungry all the time, churning). Is it possible for both tests to fail at accuracy? My GI doc told me that it can take a while to heal the stomach, but I'm feeling afraid that I still have it.

It is common to have the symptoms persist for a while. Depending on the severity of the "wound" caused, it'll take time to heal. Some people take weeks, months or even years to heal.

Have to bare in mind that some damages may be permanent. Usually among the elderlies.

But the good thing is that you are free of H. pylori and your condition will gradually improve.

So compare to before, is your current symptoms stronger or milder?

It is less frequent and I have been able to gain weight back and eat more foods. I just get scared when I get a flare up (currently dealing with one now) that it's not really gone because my symptoms so closely mimic the infection.

sometimes anxiety can trigger the gastric symptoms. So be aware that it may be psychological.
