blood test for h. pylori came back negative 2 x

Breath tests are the most accurate way of detecting H.pylori without actually having an endoscopy (stomach examination). Breath tests are especially useful after treatment to make sure H.pylori is cured. Urea breath tests are known to be completely harmless. Either C14-urea or C13-urea tests are used. Read about them at the diagnosis section at http://www.helico.com/diag_breath.html where a diagram can be found. C14-urea breath tests use a radioactive tracer but such a tiny amount that it can be used safely at any age. It is a 15 minute test, convenient and inexpensive. The C13-urea test uses a stable isotope of carbon which is also harmless but requires two breath samples and takes about 30 minutes. Both tests have accuracy greater than 90%.

interesting. so how did your GI doctor diagnose H. pylori? histology or CLOtest?

the blood result from your internal medicine doctor, did they send the blood to proper pathology lab? what is your IgA and IgG value?

i was having pain on my lower rib cage, severe nausea, fatigue, weakness, bloating, burping, loss of appetite, weight loss, pain in the upper abdomen in between rib cage and gurgling sounds inside my stomach. 4/18 i was given amoxicillin for cough and went back to the same doctor told them i was having abdominal pain nausea, pain in my rib cage and was put on Macrobid and that was on 5/16 for uti she saud but uti test came back negative and told me that it's just a antibiotic it won't hurt me. and on 5/31 i went back there again with all the same symptoms and ordered a blood test for H. pylori and came back negative and she then put me on Macrobid agian and told me to take nexium so i went to different doctor a week later for second opinion and he did a blood test for H. pylori and it came back negative. so i was refer to GI doctor and Endoscopy was done and told me that i have H. pylori. i am now on my 8 days of treatment using Pylera and Pantoprazole. i was wondering do i really have pylori? does my endoscopy result accurate? the GI doctor told me that my intestine lining is good just need to treat the bug.

IgM is usually tested if you just got infected with pathogen.
IgG should be tested in your case.

I would trust your endoscopy result more. So, do you have histology report from endoscopy?

GI Doctor used camera to see and they did a biopsy.

igM .80
igG 5.6

that's what the doctor told me. Hopefully this help. The medecine that i was taking made me cry, the side effect was so horrible... I'm just glad that today is my last day of treatment and hoping that i got rid of the bug. i really don't want to take any more antibiotic.

i am not familiar with the IgG measurement. Did you ask your doctor what is the cut off for IgG to determine if you are positive?

antibiotic side effects are very common. Try to think positively and dont think about the side effect. It usually worse when you keep thinking about it.

Try to finish your treatment to avoid antibiotic resistance.
