3 months post treatment - need advice

Hi there,

I never had heartburn or reflux ever in my life until last year. It got so bad I went to the doctor and tested positive for h.pylori. I went through triple therapy treatment and stayed on PPI for a month after. It has been 3 months and I recently retested negative two weeks ago. I’m doing much better than I was. However, I still have reflux. I’m having a flare-up which has been 2 days of reflux symptoms. I’m taking a PPI to help it, so hopefully it does. If reflux was a symptom, does that mean it’s likely that we have developed it forever? Is there a chance the reflux will just go away with time?

first of all, congratulation that you are now free of H. pylori.
yea.. it's common to have "episodes" after H. pylori eradication. some of the symptoms can be due to the damage done by H. pylori. some of these wound can take a long time to heal.
hopefully your episodes will come less and less frequent and gradually go away.

some people find that the reflux symptoms can be triggered by certain food. what do you think?

Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I would say that the flare up happened after a couple of days of not sticking with my usual “healthy” diet and lots of stress. This is new to me, I will have to figure out how to control my stress levels and see what food works for me. I appreciate this website and all the information your team provides. I would be lost without it. I didn’t think that this whole experience would take months and months and months. Thank you.
