[*Everyone,

Im a 28 yr male, Indian origin, living in the US. It all started in March 2021 when I noticed a dull pain under my left rib. I thought of it as some muscle cramp and did not pay much attention. The pain was persistent and I started having constant burping from the next week. I thought I was having gas issues and kept taking antacids which helped with the symptoms.

I did this for few months, but around October 2021, things got very troubling. No matter what I ate, I would keep getting acid refluxes(along with bits of food),burping, feel bloated, have dull pain under my ribs (sometimes left, sometimes right). I consulted a GI specialist and they wanted me to get tested for H pylori, through a blood test.

The test came back positive and I was diagnosed with H pylori infection in December 2021. I was put on triple therapy (Omeprazole + Metronidazole+ Doxycycline). My symptoms were fine while I was on medication. Onc done, I was back to having the same old symptoms. I consulted my doctor and they said I needed an endoscopy. I was put on just Omeprazole for another 2 weeks just to see if it would help. The 2 weeks on medication were fine, but after that, it is the same old story.

I will soon be getting my endoscopy done. My question is, what are the next steps my doctor would be doing after an endoscopy? Will it determine if I have been completely cured? Will it help them in identifying any damage done from the H pylori?

I really feel hopeless sometimes with all the burpings, acid refluxes. It spoils my mood altogether.

Will I be able to treat it completely? Are there any specific diet changes that can help?

You should stop PPI (such as omeprazole) for 2 weeks before endoscopy so your doctor can check if you still have H. pylori.

PPI can give false negative results during endoscopy checking. Should ask your doctor if you can switch omeprazole to H2 blockers for at least 2 weeks before the endoscopy.

During the endoscopy, the specialist will look around the stomach for abnormality and may take some biospies for histology check.

if you are indeed free of H. pylori, then you'll need to focus on the recovery. Unfortunately there is no guideline to how to improve the recovery of your stomach. In the forum, people try probiotics and natural products to help with the recovery.

How are you doing now? Did you eradicated it and your burping went a way
