To be frank, there is nothing much you can do about it for the scars and auto-immune attack.
If PPI works, then keep on taking it.

Usually people catch H. pylori when they are very young, from the mother, during the feeding period.
But H. pylori doesnt cause much trouble when you are at young age. So most probably you dont know about it.
Normally you become symptomatic after age of 18, either you enter college, university or society, where you get lots of stress from study or work. Especially when you burnt a lot of mid-night oil, irregular diet habit, alcohol, smoking, etc... those activities can reduce your repair capability.

If the endoscopy did not see anything particular, then you dont need to worry for another 5-10 years. It takes a long time for abnormalities to develop.

If the endoscopy examination see some abnormalities, then you should check it annually until the specialist is convinced that it's benign.

I'm thinking I've turned the corner and then bam, it hits, the symptoms start again and I'm unable to eat for weeks.
Hi arthursocal1

This is a lesson I have learned. Because I was too keen to eat more to catch up, I increased the amount of food or the amount of animal protein food too soon when I felt better, which is Wrong. I did this way a dozen of times. In the beginning I blamed I took a wrong food but realised later it was also the volume. I think my stomach lining was/is still weak due to the inflammation and the stomach muscles were/are still weak from not eating properly for several months. When suddenly increasing the volume of food or the food difficult to digest, my stomach can’t cope and takes a longer time to digest the food which causes increased stomach acid that irritates the stomach lining, and then symptoms started again. My lesson is NEVER to increase the volume of food, particularly the food not easy to digest, too soon and too much one time!

Thanks Helico_expert.

I took omeprazole every day in the first month when the HP treatment started 7 months ago , then stopped it for a short time. When I had symptoms again, I started omeprazole again for about 6 weeks and then stopped. Later when I had symptoms again, I took it for several days and then stopped. Each time I stopped it gradually. In the recent a couple of months, I feel my stomach seems have particularly more acid. A small amount of sweet food, such as half teaspoon honey, can make me feel acid in my stomach. I took omeprazole 3 weeks ago for 3 days and then stopped gradually, and I didn’t feel my acid symptoms improved when I was taking omeprazole. In recent months, I have indigestion symptoms quite often. Do you think my recent stomach acid may be caused by not taking omeprazole, or by indigestion of food? Thanks.

you are probably experiencing one of the "episodes", sometimes triggered by certain food.

If PPI works, you should keep trying. otherwise, you should see your GP again. explain to him about your "indigestion" problem. perhaps you meant bloating and you feel like the food is trapped in the stomach for a long time. If that is the case, perhaps you can try other medications such as domperidone

Thanks Helico_expert for your helpful information.

I started taking omeprazole yesterday and felt it relieved my symptoms of stomach acid and reflux yesterday daytime and when I went to bed. I think I will continue to take omeprazole for a week.

Recently, my acid reflux quite often happened in the morning. Even when I ate a smaller amount of evening meal and felt the food seemed digested before I went to bed, but the following day morning I still felt acid reflux. I have started drinking half cup of warm water before I went to bed for a couple of months, which relieved my reflux symptom when I fall to sleep. Do you think my morning reflux might be related to a half cup of warm water I drank before I went to bed?

If domperidone works for me, do I have to rely on it later on?

I saw my GI recently and she seemed running out idea. She prescribed me peppermint oil for my indigestion. I have acid reflux and I don’t think peppermint oil is suitable to me.

One of my symptoms is: when my stomach is not in settled status, I don’t feel hungry but I can feel my stomach is empty. When my stomach is empty and I feel hungry, - I know my stomach is in a better status. Does anyone has the same symptom?

yes, if domperidone and PPI are helpful, do continue on. Discuss with your doctor about the potential side effects.

Thanks Helico_expert. I feel even when I didn’t have a bigger amount meal, a little amount of animal food such as chicken breast can cause me indigestion (take longer time to digest). I could eat about half amount of chicken breast when I felt better after the treatment. But now even 2 small dices of chicken breast can stress my stomach. Does this indicate that my stomach may be inflamed?

I have noticed that my stomach acid has been particularly higher about a month after the triple treatment. I am more intolerant to sweet food. I feel acid in my stomach after taking a little amount of sweet food. May this symptom be caused by post HP infection?

have you done a follow up check up to see if you still have H. pylori?

My stool test in August showed HP negative. I have been on and off omeprazole all these months and can't remember whether I was on omeprazole when I did the stool test. My symptoms now seem a bit similar to before the triple therapy :-( How many days beforehand omeprazole should be stopped to prevent false negative of stool test?
