Hi,
I was treated for the second time for HP infection in november however I still have the symptoms which were particularly severe up to about 10 days ago. I am unable to eat a lot of foods as they seem to irratate my stomach.
I have since been for an Endoscopy and they found scarring suggestive of a healed ulcer at the duodenum and also some mild inflammation at the antrum. Biopsies were taken from beneath the scarring and from the area of inflammation. I was unable to stop taking the PPIs due to the discomort
The results have come back negative for HP. It this test conclusive?

If you never stopped taking PPI then no.
A biopsy is sent to a pathologist who spends time looking for a squiggly line. They will catch it 100% of the time if H Pylori doesn't change shape. The problem is that PPI's and other medications have shown in medical studies to change shapes and shrink. The pathologist will miss many of these.
There is a test available that verifies the DNA of H Pylori for a definitive diagnosis. Most doctors are not using this test yet but those that are are catching 20% more patients. This is prevalent for bariatrics and GI's.
