Was it still effective?, and more questions post-treatment

Hello, I'm a male, 24 years old.

Very glad to have discovered this forum.

I did the first-line treatment, which was the seven day one (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and a ppi, mine was esomeprazol 2x 20mg a day)

During the treatment i threw everything i could at it, all in the form of supplements (1000mg mastic gum, dgl, lots of kefir, s.boulardi, strong probiotic, and 1x oregano oil capsule before bed) and natural things like really strong green tea mixed with half a cup of really strong ginger tea 3x a day.

I probably had the damn bug for 8 years. As you might expect, i was very glad when they finally found the bacteria. It was right around the time I'd started searching on the internet, subsequently leading me to hpylori. Took a look at the symptoms and checked all the boxes. My endoscopy was due in a month and i knew they would take biopsies - it all coincided nicely.

Now here's the thing: I took the treatment 2 weeks ago and symptoms still persist. After treatment, things seemed to get better. Less burping, bloating was gone. In short: I felt great and was happy because of all the noticeable improvements back then! However, i got worse again after the treatment. It feels like i'm back at square one. I'm burping very often again, especially after a meal. Also bloating paired with back pain on the lower right side, which is new for me. The back pain has completely disappeared today however, but only after a week of mindfull eating. The bloating and burping hasn't, not even a bit.

Now I looked at my treatment plan. I was supposed to take the two 20mg ppi pills in one go, like one whole 40mg pill. I did it differently. During treatment, I started my day by taking one 20mg esomeprazol pill and 3 hours later the second 20mg esomeprazol pill. Inbetween that time I took my antibiotics ofcourse. But i also took all the antibiotics seperately. Never 2 pills in one go. Always another one after 2 hours and so on. Sometimes I missed my dose by atleast 30 minutes too. I was always done with the regimen at 0:00 midnight.

Did i make the treatment less effective by doing this? Which explains my symptoms coming back? Maybe i didn't eradicate hpylori?

The doctor wanted me on ppi's for another 4 weeks after treatment, so i'm still on them now. Also due for a stool or breath test on May 3.
Right now my insecurities are kinda piling up :(

Thank you in advance for an answer to my worries. It tends to keep me up at night.

I'm 23 mate, did my two week treatment 4 months ago, tested negative 3 weeks after the treatment. And I still have a gnawing pain in my stomach 4 months on.

Not had a beer since October, it sucks.

Did you notice any improvements in symptoms eventually? Are you in a better condition now than before?

Hope you will heal man. Fingers crossed.

Only the past 2 weeks I've been seeing improvement. Right now I'm only in pain in the morning and before bed, i'm guessing this is when my stomach is empty and the acid is aggravating the healing ulcer.

Keeping the PPI dose up is one major key to treatment success. However, it's no point guessing if it worked. Wait for 2-4 weeks, then repeat the test to find out if you still have H. pylori.
