I have H Pylori with no symptoms

Hello,
Just before the holidays I had an endoscopy. I am a 53 year old colon cancer survivor. I have been cancer free for 4 years now. I had the endoscopy added on to my routine colonoscopy screening, because I had been experiencing occasional acid reflux, not very serious, and I had a history of esophagitis. So, the doc decided to check it out while he had me under. He also checked me for H. Pylori. He said that he always checks all his patients that have an endoscopy. Much to my surprise I came up positive. I have no symptoms, unless occasional reflux is a symptom. I feel great, I eat a very healthy diet and I take a daily probiotic. I have no history of gastritis or ulcers or anything like that. He prescribed me the triple therapy and told me I could wait until after the holidays to start it since it is very harsh and he didn't want it to ruin my holidays. I put if off and I still haven't done it. I feel terrific and have no digestion issues at all. Now, I am wondering if I really need to put myself through the treatment to remove the infections since it is not causing me any known problems.

Thank you. Your thoughts and input is greatly welcome.

normally I would suggest healthy asymptomatic patients to ignore it. However, since you have a history of colon cancer and H. pylori is known to be associated with gastric cancer, I would suggest you the same.

Nevertheless, I believe H. pylori is the catalyst of gastric cancer. the inherited genes and diet still play a very important factor to gastric cancer. So, please eat healthily, eg avoid too much salt.

Thank you for your reply. I am cancer free and very healthy now. I eat a mostly plant based diet with lots of raw veggies and fruit and I take a twice daily probiotic. Since I have no current digestive issues, I was thinking about perhaps trying some alternative types of treatments to at least control the h pylori population and give my stomach the best possible chance of not being irritated by the bacteria. Do you have information on alternative treatments? I have read a little bit about Mastic Gum and vitamin amongst other things.

hi, i have no tips for alternative treatment. from my information gathered, there is no alternative treatment (or home remedy) that can totally eradicate H. pylori. If you go through this forum, you'll read people mentioned about mastic gum, garlic, salt, honey, chili, broccoli, probiotics and etc.

Since you have no symptoms from H. pylori, I dont know how these alternative product can improve or maintain your current situation.

This is just for discussion as I dont have answer.

H. pylori can be bad for us. Not everyone who carry H. pylori will get ulcers or cancer. But most stomach ulcers and cancers were the cause of H. pylori (except those who take long term NSAIDs).

The reason why doctors ask you not to take treatment if you dont have symptom is because, the antibiotics can change your gut flora. It's a bless to have a balance gut flora. The antibiotics may get rid of H. pylori and give you a chaotic gut flora, which nobody understands at the moment. So, it is better not to do anything unless you have a problem.

Uncovering a Rare Condition

Greetings everyone,

My name is Ron, and I am writing you because my mother's doctors, my family and I are trying to identify the rare condition that my mother is experiencing. These are some of the symptoms that she endures:

1) A diagnosis of Helicobacter Pylori that has not gone away yet, even after multiple antibiotic regiments that her doctors have prescribed
2) Over the past 5 years, her daily pain levels have gradually shifted from a level 6 to a current level 10 out of 10. Each day, she can barely sleep more than two hours because she is awaken by the pain and/or cellphone alarms signaling a reminder for her to take medicine.
3) Major swelling and redness in areas throughout her body. If she gets a small bruise from common around-the-house accident then a rash forms around the bruise that grows larger than the original bruise itself
4) Odd breathing patterns that include gasps for air
5) My mom has always been complimented by friends and family for her beautiful teeth. In recent years, however, her gums have decayed to the extent that all of her teeth were removed by her dentist

These are just a few of the symptoms that my mom experiences. The combination of all of these symptoms have stumped many of her specialists, especially considering that my mom is very young. Her doctors are doing their best to research while I see as my mom does her best to smile through the pain and fear about what is going on. These conditions are getting worse but we still don't have a full diagnosis so that any respective treatment(s) can commence.

It is my hope that anyone may have ideas for possible causes/diagnoses that we all have overlooked. Fresh ideas could make all the difference between current nights (when my mom grimaces during her sleep from the pain she experiences) to new days (when my mom can smile freely again as she plants in her garden).

Therefore...although my mom has been diagnosed with H. Plyori, are the other conditions that my mom is experiencing new effects of H. Plyori or is H. Plyori and other symptoms causing a rare condition? Is anyone familiar with any student case studies that could research my mother's experience, in case they may have new ideas that may help her doctors in their research?

I am not a medical scientist , nor a doctor or a nutritionist ..just someone that has some overdose of h.pylori readings.

I came across some notes related to amyloidosis.
Although, it happens majority 70% in male, I am not sure it is a good point to rule this out for your mother.

Some of the these symptoms does not seem to apply to your mother, and perhaps a full blood test might reveal some indicators or clues.
I do hope it is nothing serious, but something that can be rectified with diet.

Not sure if you wish to check for B12 deficiency via blood test as well.
