yes, previous exposure to Azithromycin can cause resistant in H. pylori. Resistant to Azithromycin also leads to Clarithromycin. So you cannot take any of these drug anymore in your next treatment.
Re: Treatment related to h pylori
Amoxicillin also cause resistance in h pylori ? because i have also taken Amoxicillin in the first line treatment ... Are there Amoxicillin resistant h pylori strains?
Please guide sir...

Re: Treatment related to h pylori
H. pylori cannot become resistant to Amoxicillin.
Although there are articles out there that claim about Amoxicillin resistant H. pylori strain, it is because they are using lower cut off value. Since we can take amoxicillin in high concentration, there is no need to use lower cut off value just to claim they are resistant.

Re: Treatment related to h pylori
first of all, you need to make sure that you are free of H. pylori. the catch is that you need to stop PPI before the breath/stool test. So, you can try switch to ranitidine for a while and see if it helps.
ranitidine is a fast acting acid blocker, but short live in the body. PPI is a slow acting acid blocker and have longer live in the body. PPI normally shows a better inhibition in acid secretion. because ranitidine is short live, you need to time yourself very well, eg. 30 min before the acid comes (usually before meal time).
the advantage of ranitidine is that it will not affect the breath/stool test. you can continue ranitidine until the night before breath/stool test.
your stomach can only truly recover without H. pylori. hence it is important to find out.

Re: Treatment related to h pylori
less likely. you can stop ranitidine anytime, but PPI usually requires you to stop gradually.
