Good question!

when you take PPI, your stomach acid is low. So other bacteria can start growing. If you are doing breath test, which is actually testing the activity of urease enzyme in the stomach, you can get false positive from other bacteria that is growing in the stomach.

Then again, since the urease activity from other bacteria is a lot weaker than H. pylori, normally the false positive results are "low positives" (very close to the borderline). Experienced doctor would pick that up quickly. Some hospital, they dont want to confused the doctors, so they remove the raw data reading and only produce "positive" and "negative" result. That can lead to misused of antibiotics.

Thanks for the answer, I wonder why he ordered the test when he knew I had been on the PPI for a month as he was the one who prescribed me them, it was a stool test and not breath test, hopefully it picked up the right bacteria

stool test is as accurate as breath test. again, stool test is also sensitive to the bacterial load. PPI can lead to lower H. pylori amount and may lead to false negative.

My lymph count is normal.

I do however have a slightly elevated eosinophil count, but I've always had it for years.

I did notice a high ddimer, not alerting high. But high, wo der if it is associated with h pylori, as I've read that ddimer may also be a inflammatory marker? Idk though.

good question. I am afraid I dont know the linkage between D-dimer and H. pylori.
