Good evening,
I have had stomach issues since I was a kid, almost always constipation. The last 2 years I would have irregular stomach pains followed by diarrhea after a few hours. It didn't happen often, if I had to guess maybe once every 3 months. Fast forward to about 3 months ago...heartburn, severe indigestion, a tab bit of acid reflux, fatigue, and continued constipation. I was seen by a physician assistant as I live on an island and thats who was recommended. She thought that I may have a hiatal hernia so she referred me to 1 of the only 2 GI's on the island. An appointment was made and when that day finally came, I was forced to be seen by a NP because the GI was off island. She gave me the breath test and called me the following week to say that it was positive. The paper that she gave me with my prescriptions said POSITIVE 30.7 u/ml. <---- WHAT IS THIS? Can you please explain? Everything that I have read this far says 30-70 is questionable.
I was started on a triple therapy regimen: Pantoprazole 40mg once daily before breakfast, Metronidazole 500mg every 8 hours, and Clarithromycin 500mg evey 12 hours. I HATE MEDICINE, pills more than anything. I am struggling through this and am only on day 6 of a 14 day treatment. So far, I am hungry all the time. Why is this?
I'm sure I will have more questions but at this point I don't really know anything.

hmm.. u/ml is not a common unit used in breath test
you sure it is not blood test that you have done?
So I am not too sure what is that..
Pantoprazole + Clarithromycin + metronidazole is a standard triple therapy.
Unfortunately antibiotic is still the only way to get rid of H. pylori.
You are doing very well. please continue the treatment until you finished the last pill.
You will need to get a follow up breath test a month later after you completed your treatment.
Feeling hungry during or after treatment is common. It could mean your stomach is feeling healthier, producing more acid. Some patients can increase weight after treatment.
