H Pylori and Foamy Saliva

I have been having foamy acidic white Saliva for months now. I was tested for H pylori In August 2012 and it showed negative, however my doctor made a mistake and told me to take Omeprozole before the stool test was carried out, which I know can cause false negatives on the test.

I am still getting pains and white saliva even though I am taking Omeprozole. I have had an endoscopy (no biopsy taken), and know I do have an Hiatus hernia.

Also I always have a stained tongue, which does not seem to clear.

As anyone experienced anything similar.

P.S I have also had weight loss for no reason, and I eat normal. I have had my whole abdomen CT Scanned, also an ultrasound, Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and load of blood/Urine tests etc etc.

Could an H Pylori infection be causing all my problems?

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,

you are right about omeprazole may give false negative result in stool test.

From my understanding, h. pylori should not stain your tongue.

so no histology or CLOtest done during your endoscopy?

Hi Helico expert, and thanks for your reply.

They did not take a biopsy of anything during my Endoscopy, the only things found were an Hiatus Hernia, and two small erosions in my Esophogues.

I am not sure what is causing my foamy white acidic saliva, my doc as just changed my medication from Omeprozole to Pantoprozole. What ever is happening it is destroying my teeth and mouth, I doubled my Omeprozole dose last week and my saliva went more watery for a few days then it went back to froth on Sunday it is really annoying.

The reason I am thinking Helicabactor is because PPI's don't seem to work, whereas they work on my father who also as a Hiatus hernia. It is like something is contributing to making my stomach really acidic. I have had a real good workup from my docs, and some tests I have paid for myself, and they have found nothing too sinister.

I understand that stress can cause some strange things to your body and also cause excess stomach acid, but I cant accept that you become very fatigued and loss your muscle mass from stress alone, as I eat more than enough calories to maintain weight. It is like something is stealing all my nutrient from my body.

I responded part of your questions in another post

I have to agree "stress" do play a part in this stomach problem. whenever my sister get too worried or stressed up on a particular thing, she'll get stomach pain, reflux and bloating. She has done many test and is always negative for H. pylori and have perfectly normal endoscopy result. We classify her as the non-helicobacter related dyspepsia.

anyway, in your case, your father had stomach cancer, i think you are in the high risk zone. i think an antibiotic sensitivity test will be the best option (if available). you can have a look at our recent publication on how the antibiotic sensitivity test was done.

Thanks for the reply Helico expert.

It was my Grandfather that died from Stomach Cancer, was father is still alive and still playing football at 58. He also as an Hiatus Hernia.

Would signs of an H Pylori infection show on a Endoscopy, even without a biopsy. My Endoscopy report just stated Hiatus hernia and two small erosions in my esophegeus, everything else was fine.

Thanks

you may see gastritis by endoscopy too. however, it doesnt mean the inflammation is caused by H. pylori. A CLOtest will tell, if your specialist did that during the endoscopy.

My h.pylori was originally found thru an endoscopy. I was given 2 antibiotics to take over 10 days and went back to do a Urea breath test which then turned up negative.

Yeah, that's right. Taking Omeprozole can give you negative results for the test. I think it is better to undergo for a biopsy, and check in detail to clarify the doubts. This is a fact that stress plays a great role in such diseases and stomach issues.

Thanks
