Reduced PPI(Raberprazole or omeprazole) dosage to just one 20mg dose per day and avoiding tea/coffee and extra spicy food. I have somehow maintained the burning sensation to a tolerable level. Have lost some weight and after a week I will switch to Ranitidine to get a follow up test.

Apart from this, had one question- Can H Pylori infection go away on its own in some individuals like other infections??

you need to stop PPI for at least 2 weeks before follow up breath test.
ranitidine is fine. so you can take ranitidine for two weeks, then stop ranitidine the night before breath test.

can H. pylori go away naturally?
This is a very good question! I think yes, but very rare.
Some people can produce very strong immune response during the initial infection. H. pylori cannot colonise and then gone.
also some people, because of an virus or whatever infection, induced strong immune response in the stomach, and that sometimes get rid of H. pylori too.
Lastly, when the stomach became cancerous. it's no longer healthy for H. pylori to colonise. The patient can lost H. pylori too. That's why, if you want to test for H. pylori, the gastroenterologist must take a biopsy from healthy stomach tissue. Many gastroenterologist doesnt know about this relationship. They grab a piece of unhealthy tissue, maybe ulcer, maybe intestinal metaplasia, maybe cancer, and they cannot see H. pylori.

What are the typical symptoms of a strong immune response in the stomach ?

Again, very good question.

You may or may not experience any symptom. Should there be symptoms, it will be the common "gastritis" symptoms. such as bloating, pain, reflux, etc..
