Is this treatment a good combination

The most popular treatments consist of two antibiotics (one of which is usually clarithromycin) plus a strong acid blocker such as omeprazole (PriLosec, Nexium, Somac, Zoton, etc.). Treatment is for 7-10 days. Cure rate is about 85%

Is this treatment a good combination

Post by Litza1503 »

To make the story short, this is will be my 3 treatment to eradicate HP. I dont have any symptoms and it wasn't for the breathing test saying positive I will swear I don't have HP.

I had triple therapy twice . after the 1st treatment I had an endoscopy and it was negative but a few months after I had a breathing test and it was positive... My doctor believes that the endoscopy wasn't accurate and perhaps I never got rid off the bacteria.
After the second triple therapy I was still positive, so this time Dr. is prescribing quadruple therapy for 14 days, the problem is that I lost the prescription about a month ago so I went again to get a copy of the prescription and this time the medication is a bit different that the initial prescription:

First prescription was tetracycline of 250mg and Metronidazole of 500 Mg
the new prescription is :
Lansoprazole 30mg
Bismuth Subsalicylate 35.2 MG liquid
Metronidazole 250 Mg tablet (instead of the 500mg originally prescribed)
Tetracycline 500mg ( instead of 250mg )

I am a bit concerned about the new prescription and wondering which dosage is correct, perhaps the dr made the mistake on the dosage of tetracycline and metronidazole on my prescription ? any experience taking this combination. is this a strong therapy after failing Triple T. twice? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

PBMT is a good combination.

This is what we normally prescribe
Raberpazole 20mg TID
Bismuth 220mg QID
Metronidazole 400mg TID
Tetraycline 500mg QID

so if you multiply the number of times you have to take your tablets per day, would it be stronger than what we prescribe?
