Re: Children Adopted from Orphanage, Testing for Resistant Hp

I suggest you repeat the tests. Have a urea breath test and only accept a stron positive reading rather than a "weak" or or borderline result which might be false positive. The stool test is 90% accurate. A negative biopsy test for histology is a good indicator of cure if the patient has not been ta...

Re: Treatment for Pregnant Women

It's a bit late to reply now but the treatment you were given seems excellent. You were also taking the acid blocker as welol I hope (the "PPI"). Have a breath test after treatment but there is no hurry for that if you feel better. 8-)

Re: 2 Dr. Marshall - Getting Vaccine??

A quick answer for you - no vaccine can cure it yet. Maybe in 10 years. Meantime study and read the FAQ files for more information. Also, search for keywords in the forums - you may find a similar case as yourself.

Re: Helicobacter aftermath - how long before I feel better?

I advise that you have a follow-up breath test 4-12 weeks after treatment to rove the bug has gone. If symptoms are still present then take a H2 blocker if that is sufficient e.g. Zantac 150 mg as required. Healing of the stomach takes 3-6 months but some mild inflammation persists for years afterwa...

Re: Problems on last day of treatment.

Hi, I hope it works but I have to say that you should NEVER decrease the dose of omeprazole. Double dose is best! It makes the antibiotics work better. Fingers crossed. Regards symptoms. If you had the same symptoms even on treatment, maybe Hp is not the cause. For about half the treated patients, g...

Re: My 3rd attempt..fingers crossed.

Here is a post for you - as I have been away. Firstly, I don't criticise other doctors' treatment plans. Nevertheless, there are treatments which have been proven to work and some which have not been proven. Secondly, there is a document on-line here somewhere which has recommended plans - search an...

Re: Resistant Bacteria! or False Positive Breath Tests

I can't dwell on this as I have other things to do. However, it does not make any difference whether you have 500 or 1500 on the breath test. The level of bacteria does not predict what the outcome is, although my impression is that duodenal ulcer patients have more bacteria and more breath counts. ...

Re: My HP is resistant

There is a treatment article on-line in one of the other posts - use the search to find it. Then read it. At least you are being carefully managed by your doctors but maybe you need to see a Helicobacter specialist if you remain positive after this treatment. Take the article along and maybe some ca...

Re: family history of stomach cancer

Omeparazole also cuts down the H.pylori so, on average, your risk probably stays the same. Regardless of omeprazole, ridding yourself of Hp is still worthwile.
