Re: Help!!! Specks of blood in phlegm

The blood in the phlegm could be just from coughing - lets hope so. If it is an infection in the lungs (bronchitis) then Hp antibiotic treatment should really hammer the chest germs as well as the stomach germs. However, ask your own doctor about it - depending on your age and smoking habits it coul...

Re: Perth Sufferer - "chronic fatigue etc."

Interesting story. About half the patients with this type of "weird syndrome" see a complete remission after 3-6 months from cure of the Hp. Most of the others are somewhat better but sometimes it is not the Hp (something else - so keep a lookout for weird new developments) or they have some permane...

Re: family history of stomach cancer

The main thing is to get rid of the H.pylori and eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables - or vitamin C. If you cannot get rid of the Hp i.e. it is resistent to antibiotics, then have a gastroenterologist put the 'scope down and 1.) measure the pH of the gastric juice (suck it out and test with lit...

Re: Slight pain and bad breath

You did not say if you did or did not have H.pylori. Gastritis can mean many things - red stomach, erosions from aspirin etc., or actualy gastritis on biopsy caused by H.pylori. "Gas" means swallowing air (possibly a reflex action due to sensations in the oesophagus, from acid reflux oesophagitis or...

Re: Multi-resistant H. pylori

I doubt that the tetracycline and amoxicillin interaction is relevant in the stomach. However, tetracycline and bismuth probably chelate to each other and to the mucus layer and thus last longer in the stomach so they might be synergistic - at least they have been used in lots of triple therapies. N...

Re: Topical treatment for H.p. eradication

Soft food is best - and even take the bismuth in smaller dose (one tab chewed or Pepto-Bismol equivalent liquid to 250 mg of BSS) - EVERY THREE HOURS - because residence time in the stomach is less than 3 hous. The Japanese used a mucolytic called pronase which is a natural product. Actually, we hav...

Re: Chlamydia Pneumoniae Bacteria - Asthma Link

Regards the idea of bacterial cause of asthma - why not? But these things are hard to prove. The rule is that if double blind studies are not done, then the government does not have to pay for it. Without payment, there is no incentive for the drug company to do a study - especially if the drug is g...

Re: Topical treatment for H.p. eradication

By topical treatments, I recall Japanese investigators who used a balloon to stop the stomach emptying then they filled the stomach with bismuth and penicillin. After an hour or so they released the balloon. It did work in quite a few patients but needs a dedicated team to do it. Usually, topical tr...

Re: TREATMENT OF HPYLORI IN PT WITH MULTIPLE ALLERGIES

That is a tough case. Bismuth does not cause allergies so start with De-Nol 120 mg 2 tabs qid for 14 days (with food or not - it does'nt matter). Then add antibiotics you can use - furazolidone might work at 100 mg tid. Also, add rifabutin 150 mg bid. Also give PPI in high dose - such as rabeprazole...

Re: do you agree.. (PPI-Clar-Amox followed by PPI-Clar-Metron)

Good question. I recommend have a breath test before trying again with more antibiotics - you might not need them. In Portugal, the doctors are pretty expert with treating H.pylori so I can't really question the treatment. The cure rate will be related to the amoxicillin only because the bug will be...
