Re: Symptoms returned after negative stool test. Need Advis

Hello, 1- Normally, stool test is accurate but it won't hurt to do a breath test just to confirm eradication. However, the test might be false negative if you were taking ppi (such as omeprazole) at the time. 2- We usually speak of re-infection from your partner but this is very unlikely if you have...

Re: just diagnosed.any opinion on my rx?

Hi, I understand things can be frustrating sometime but some positive thoughts would help. First, you have to know that the symptoms will take some time to disappear, sometimes months as your stomach need to recover from gastritis. The standard treatment has a very good cure rate but it will depends...

Re: Diagnosed and treated for H Pylori

It is difficult to say if you still have H. pylori based on the symptoms as it will take some time for the symptoms to disappear after eradication. Some antibiotics make the stools go darker so I wouldn't worry too much about that. It is important to check the eradication after treatment with a test...

Re: Have i been given the wrong treatment

The specialist would have to a gastroenterologist but perhaps you could seek a second opinion from a different GP first. Normally any GP should be able to prescribe the triple therapy. If it become more complicated (resistance, pain after eradication...) then a specialist will be able to help you.

Re: Have i been given the wrong treatment

Hello, Omeprazole and Ranitadine are definitely not antibiotics. They can only reduce the acidity in your stomach. To eradicate Helicobacter you need to take Omeprazole with at least 2 other antibiotics (triple therapy) such as Amoxicillin, Metronidazole or Chlarithromycin. These antibiotics are rec...

If you are not allergic to Penicillin, I would recommend PARC. It is probably easier to get in your country than Bismuth

Re: Should I see a Specialist?

Your GP should be able to prescribe a treatment to eradicate the bacteria. I would see a specialist if it gets more complicated (resistance to treatment, more symptoms...)

Re: Post Treatment Symptoms

Yes, it does take time for your stomach to recover. Depending on how bad the gastritis was, it sometimes takes several month. Keep taking Omeprazole is a good idea.

Re: hpylori breath test came positive but no symptoms.

If I was Hp positive I would prefer being treated but this is my personel opinion. Once the symptoms are there they can be pretty bad.
