Re: Resistant H Pylori - 4th Treatment

At Helico_expert's suggestion I scanned through the questions and answers. By now you are resistant to metronidazole and clarithromycin. You could still be sensitive to a few of our special treatments however. I think the failures are due to inadequate acid blockade. Depending on where you are in wo...

Re: h. pylori exterminated, but atrophic gastritis remains

Atrophic gastritis could be present as an appearance (through the endoscope or the barium meal) or on biopsy. Assuming the biopsy was used to make that diagnosis, then the following applies. 1. Atrophic gastritis does not resolve completely - it is mostly permanent. 2. If the AG is very severe (i.e....

Re: Galbladder removed Helio positive.

At least some gallbladder problems have been linked to exotic Helicobacter infections - or contaminations. Its difficult to say that it is a major thing however. If you have your gallbladder out it could worsen the symptoms of H.pylori so you should also treat the Hp as well as the gallbladder. :geek:

Re: In Canada, Dr. doesn't want to do breath test

I agree with the other comments by HE below here. The sequence is TEST - TREAT - WAIT 4 Weeks - RETEST with BREATH TEST. The link on this page has some third line complicated treatments for resistant cases. If you are still infected you will need an enthusiastic and thoughtful doctor to carry this o...

Re: Could this happen barjammar?

Sorry for the late reply. However, I expect that you will gradually settle down in a year or so. The gastritis always remains in mild chronic form, so your stomach may remain 10% abnormal. The acid reflux which developed suggests that you did have damage there in your stomach and the acid level was ...

Re: Symptoms returned. Quadruple therapy without test?????

The stool test is almost as accurate as the breath test. If you are now negative for H.p. the antibody blood test will gradually decline over 2-3 years but probably will stay slightly positive even after the bug disappears. Your remaining symptom sounds like irritable bowel which just means it is in...

Re: My H.pylori is gone!

You should download and read the linked article. Hp DOES NOT become resistant to Amoxycillin, Bismuth, Tetracycline or Furazolidone, so these can be re-used in second and third line treatments. Erythromycin, Metronidazole, Quinolones and Rifabutin can usually only be used once. 8-)

Re: h pylori in well water???

Search for my recent answer about water testing. I don't think you need to test the water, just the whole family! There is probably a 2x-4x risk of stomach cancer in first degree relatives once someone else in the family has had it. Quite often the H.pylori disappears a few years before it presents....
