Tetracyclines can be used again...Dr. Marshall mentioned that h pylori does not become resistant to amoxcillin and tetracycline.

I'm no expert, but I believe once you find the right antibiotic 2 weeks treatment is all you need. I have been on antibiotics for a year (i took each combination of antibiotics about 2 months), and still no success. I think it's a matter of finding the right antibiotic that the h pylori is not ...

Hello,
I have treid the same antibiotics as you except the nitazoxanide also with no success. I wrote a post on here and dr.marsall suggested I try the antibiotic rifabutin, you can try that and there is also rifampin.
I haven't tried the rifabutin yet, I'm waiting on my next GI appt in october ...

Thank you for your reply Helico_expert.... the biopsy taken both times I did the endscopy came out negative so my GI was unable to test for antibiotic sensitivity. I agree with helico_expert try a different combination of antibiotics to see if the side effects are better. Also try what I suggested if you like....take pepto bismol 20 min before taking the antibiotics. It was the only thing that helped. As for your trip maybe you should wait until after because ...

Honestly, your best bet of getting rid of the h pylori is the antibiotics. The side effects suck believe me I know i was on antibiotics for a whole year straight trying to get rid of this thing, but the antibiotics are the only thing that has helped the horrible condition I was in before them.
