Re: Biopsies repeatedly positive, tests repeatedly negative - what's the explanation?

I think it's interesting that you've got so many negatives from in-vitro test and a positive from endoscopy/histology.

Nevertheless,
1. it is normal that the whole stomach is filled with H. pylori.
2. My first thought is that you probably have low stomach acid. low stomach acid can lead to ...

Re: Biopsies repeatedly positive, tests repeatedly negative - what's the explanation?

Here is the chronology of my HP tests (DD:MM:YYYY format):

summer 2011 - symptoms start

28.12.2011. - stool negative

7.11.2013. - biopsies (only cardia area) show "rare bacteria resembling HP"

After the positive biopsy, I'm given no PPIs or antibiotics. I never took anything to eradicate the HP ...

Biopsies repeatedly positive, tests repeatedly negative - what's the explanation?

I'm going to post the full chronology of my tests in the second post here, but to keep it brief in this first post, my symptoms started in the summer of 2011 and since then I've had 3 stool tests and one breath test, all have come back negative. Yet two different sets of biopsies have found HP, the ...

I'm reading a paper entitled Diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with atrophic gastritis: comparison of histology, 13C-urea breath test, and serology and there's this bit in it:

Two of the seven men (29%) who had regression of the corpus
atrophy had spontaneous seroconversion to ...

Re: Biopsy finds bacteria, but stool test pre and post negative???

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your story.

It's good that your endoscopy and histology report did not report anything else. The pathologist may be seeing something similar to H. pylori, but actually not. This is supported by your following two negative tests done.

But my concern is that this may ...

Biopsy finds bacteria, but stool test pre and post negative???

My symptoms started in the summer of 2011 and in dec 2011 I did a stool test that was negative for h pylori.

Then in nov 2013 I have an upper endoscopy that shows small ulceration on the cardia. A sample of it is taken, as well as a sample from the duodenum.

The pathologist's report said (and here ...

Re: stool test negative 3x, biopsy positive - do I have it?

Regarding the blood tests, I think my doctor was suspecting celiac disease (based on this same information I put here). However, the first biopsy of the duodenum, as far as I can make sense of the pathologist's report, mentions nothing about celiac and I was under the impression that he wasn't told ...

stool test negative 3x, biopsy positive - do I have it?

My story is very long, so I'll skip over most stuff.

I've had symptoms since 2011.

They were:

diarrhea (stopped after a year)
frequent gas and popping sensation in the stomach (this mostly doesn't happen now)
weight loss
sometimes sensitivity to acidic fruit

I've had an edoscopy which showed ...
