H pylori and glaucoma -- is there a link?

I've read a couple of scientific articles in peer review journals that propose a link between H pylori and glaucoma. Would like the experts on this forum to weigh in on that please. Thanks.

ever heard of a strip test for H pylori?

My cousin has been having symptoms of gastritis, and having come off a treatment of H pylori, myself, I suggested she get tested. Today she tells me she is negative and when I asked her how they got results so quickly (doctor's visit yesterday), this is her description of the test:
The test was a ...

Prilosec vs Pepcid

Doc wants me to stay on Prilosec for two months to heal gut lining (still having symptoms). I wonder, however, if Pepcid would be just as effective? I know that they work differently, but the goal is the same: reduced acid.

I don't like the side effects of Prilosec nor the horrible rebound effect ...

Re: PI IBS after Hpylori Eradication

H. pylori is not the only problem for IBS. It's also a common side effect after antibiotic treatment. The actual reason is unknown. but there is a theory suggesting that all bacteria got wiped out when you take antibiotics and when your normal flora tried to grow back, the bad bacteria dominate ...

Re: PI IBS after Hpylori Eradication

I'm dealing with the same sort of issue but for not as long a time (so far). Went for a second breath test and am negative for H pylori. I was still having symptoms and physician took all sorts of tests (esp. pancreatic and liver enzymes as well as long list of blood work). All looks good. Yay!

She ...

Re: post Pylera regimen

Went back to physician today because symptoms have increased dramatically since I stopped PPI (stopped everything but an occasional Probiotic that also seems to cause bloat.

My physician did not know that I was suppose to stop Prilosec for 2-3 wks prior to breath test. So we did that again as well ...

Re: post Pylera regimen

Learning about their behavior is pretty fascinating and may help in understanding how the drugs work. So this "urease enzyme" -- is it the target of the antibiotic?

I asked my doctor why the hydrochloric acid didn't kill the bacterium and she said it had no effect. What I gather is that H pylori ...

Re: post Pylera regimen

Helico expert, you wrote:

it takes about 1-2 days for Prilosec to completely turn your stomach neutral. when the stomach is neutral, H. pylori will turn off the enzyme that neutralize the acid. or else it'll be too acidic and they'll die (very smart).

If that's true, then why do we keep taking ...

Re: post Pylera regimen

Thanks for the answers.

Turns out, I went online and found a couple of research scientists in the area studying H pylori, who are also associated with the university hospital. With any luck, may be able to find someone (MD) close by.
